Solstice

While Iqaluit doesn't ever have 24 hours with the sun up, it does get 24 hour light in the summer. Today is summer solstice, the longest day of the year. I took this photo last night at 12:30am, but it was very overcast, so it looks dark.

I took this photo on June 20 at 12:30am- the overcast layer is thinner, so it's lighter.

Last night I could see people out on the hills behind me house at midnight, celebrating the solstice by staying outside all night.

24 hour light is unique, but I got used to it quickly. I think it will feel funny to go down south now and experience night for the first time in at least a month.
